Litigation Experience and Results

Prior to joining Collinson Law, Stacy was a partner at a national law firm where she practiced for 14 years.  She has extensive experience in a variety of areas, defending companies, homeowner’s associations, individuals and public entities in personal injury, product liability, employment, toxic tort, trucking/transportation and real property disputes.   Stacy has successfully tried personal injury, transportation and real property matters.  She is also skilled at disposing of cases via artfully crafted motions, such as motions for summary judgment, motions for judgment on the pleadings as well as demurrers and motions to strike.

Stacy has been recognized by California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2009-2013.  She was also recognized in 2012 by American Registry as a Top Female Attorney.

Education and Background

Stacy was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in a small farming town, Belle Plaine, Iowa.  Upon high school graduation, she moved to California and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Diego.  Thereafter, she moved to Washington DC where she obtained her law degree from The Catholic University of America in 1998.   She was admitted to the California State Bar in November 1998 and has resided in Los Angeles since her admittance, developing her civil litigation skills while working at two well-known defense firms.  Ms. Douglas is a member of the State Bar of California as well as the California Central and Southern Districts of the United States District Court.

In her down time, Stacy can be found chasing her two young kids.

Memberships

Stacy is active and passionate about promoting Diversity in the legal profession.  She is a member of the National Bar Association and is an active member of the Defense Research Institute, having served on the Board of its Diversity Committee.  Stacy has also served on the Board of the Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, Inc. and was a trustee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Most notably, Stacy has researched and written articles on jury voir dire and diversity issues and has utilized her own diverse background to connect to jurors from different backgrounds.  This allows her to garner the favor of a diverse jury panel, a skill necessary to successfully litigate in any California court.  Stacy has been invited to serve on the Board of the United Negro College Fund and recently spoke on a panel for Corporate Counsel Women of Color.   She has also given risk management presentations for fraternities and sororities regarding the risks and implications of hazing practices.
